The Electricity Issue, Jounieh Seaport, and the Syrian Presence at the Center of Geagea and Frem’s Meeting

Lebanese Forces Leader Samir Geagea met with MP Neemat Frem at the party’s headquarters in Maarab to review the general situation in both Lebanon and the region.

They particularly focused on the electricity issue “that weighs heavily on Lebanese citizens,” stressing that “the only solution lies in involving the private sector in the power production and sales process.”

According to a statement, Geagea and Frem also addressed the issue of the illegal Syrian presence in Lebanon. They emphasized the necessity for the government to inform the UNHCR that all refugee cards it previously issued are not legitimate, as the Lebanese state is the only competent authority to grant refugee status to any foreigner on Lebanese soil.

They also examined the situation of the Jounieh Port, expressing hope that “it will be reopened as soon as possible, following the encouraging step of appointing a new head for it.”
