Project Watan Welcomes the Resumption of Lebanese Exports to Saudi Arabia and Reaffirms: The State Is the Only Path to Salvation

Project Watan’s Executive Board held its weekly meeting, chaired by MP Neemat Frem and attended by the members. After discussing the latest developments, the Board issued the following statement:

  • The Board affirmed that the delicate phase Lebanon is going through can no longer tolerate duality in decision-making or multiple references of authority, stressing that the Lebanese have no choice but to rally around the Lebanese state as the sole unifying umbrella capable of safeguarding national interest. The Board emphasized that all political forces, first and foremost Hezbollah, are more than ever called upon to place the decision of war and peace in the hands of the state, as continuing with the current approach will only deepen internal divisions and increase the risks threatening the country. This comes at a time when political and diplomatic efforts are focused on securing Israel’s withdrawal from the villages and areas it has seized, working to save what remains of the South, and launching the process of its reconstruction and the recovery of its people.

  • The Executive Board considers that Lebanon is going through a critical economic phase that is directly affecting various productive and service sectors. Financial pressures are mounting and the cost of living is increasing, placing a heavy burden on citizens and affecting purchasing power. The tourism sector is also witnessing a decline due to the state of uncertainty and overall instability, which is affecting the flow of visitors and tourism revenues. In this context, the Board called for vigorous efforts, despite all difficulties, to strengthen the foundations of the national economy, support productive sectors, and restore confidence in the Lebanese economy, in a way that contributes to stimulating growth, creating job opportunities, and improving overall economic indicators.

  • The Board welcomed the decision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to reopen its markets to Lebanese agricultural and industrial exports, considering this step a highly significant positive development at this critical juncture, as it provides direct support to the national economy and to productive sectors that have long suffered from the repercussions of successive crises. Project Watan also expressed its gratitude and appreciation to His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as well as to His Excellency the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister, for the efforts and initiatives that led to this decision. This move effectively closes the chapter on a five-year ban and opens a genuine window of hope for the Lebanese economy, helping to revive production and exports and restore confidence in Lebanon’s economic future.
