“Project Watan” Commends Efforts Signaling the Birth of a New Nation

Project Watan’s Executive Board held its weekly meeting, chaired by MP Neemat Frem and attended by all members. Following discussions on the latest developments, the following statement was issued:

“- The Board tackled the significant efforts of President Joseph Aoun, both domestically and internationally, regarding the decision to confine weapons to legitimate state authorities, the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and support for military and security institutions, while highlighting their broad national performance.

The participants emphasized the importance of the Lebanese government’s work on reforming public institutions, which would enhance transparency and productivity. Project Watan views this as a clear and powerful message to both the domestic and international communities that Lebanon stands at the threshold of a new birth in vision and performance.

-The Board expressed its belief that the growing regional interest in Lebanon points to a forthcoming active role for the country in shaping the region’s future. The Saudi initiative to mend relations between Lebanon and Syria presents an opportunity to build a balanced relationship after decades of instability. This move clearly indicates the dawn of a new and pivotal stage of equal relations between the two countries, which will reflect on resolving the Syrian refugee issue and the demarcation of borders, as well as regulating trade and economic relations across various sectors.

-The Board praised steps taken to project a more civilized image of Lebanon - whether regarding the airport road or the Greater Beirut area, as well as efforts to enhance airport operations and ensure the comprehensive security of the airport and its surroundings. In this context, they stressed the importance of addressing the foul odors around the airport as a matter of urgency for both Lebanon’s image and environment. They also highlighted the threat posed by the nearby waste dump, whose increasing height disrupts wind patterns and attracts seagulls, posing a significant risk to aviation safety due to potential bird strikes on aircraft engines.”
