Frem on behalf of the “New Lebanon” and “National Moderation” parliamentary blocs: For urgent legislation exclusively

Deputy Neemat Frem, speaking from the Parliament on behalf of the “New Lebanon” and “National Moderation” blocs, advocated for “the approval of urgent laws exclusively in the absence of a president of the republic.”

“There are indeed clauses that necessitate legislation, as they directly impact the interests of the Lebanese people, such as the law related to the agreement with the International Red Cross, maintaining Lebanon as their main center in the Middle East, and preserving this relationship due to its importance for citizens in terms of the services and provisions it provides. Not to mention the renewable energy law, which will effectively curb the squandering of millions of dollars, given that every hour of delay costs us significantly.”

He added: “We are in a very difficult situation, and the collaboration of all parties is required to resolve it. People’s deposits are a trust that we are diligently working to return to the Lebanese. Therefore, we need a president of the republic and a new economic vision for the country. There is a financial gap of $70 billion that cannot be bridged with the mere stroke of a pen in the absence of a president and without the proper functioning of constitutional institutions.”

He concluded: “We demand the withdrawal of certain clauses that are neither urgent nor necessary, and we reaffirm our commitment to the exclusive legislation of urgent laws, which constitutes the foundation and must be implemented today.”
