Frem Meets Bin Farhan, Discusses Current Developments and the Strength of Lebanon-Saudi Relations

MP Neemat Frem, chairman of Project Watan’s Executive Board, wrote on his X account that he met with Prince Yazid bin Farhan and Ambassador Walid Bukhari.

“We exchanged views on a range of pressing issues concerning the region and Lebanon,” he noted, outlining the following points:

First: The most important thing is that I sensed Prince bin Farhan’s satisfaction with the government’s momentum and solid performance, as well as with President Joseph Aoun’s positions and wisdom in managing the current phase.

Second: I noted strong interest in the issue of confining weapons to the state and in the progress achieved on this complex and sensitive file. However, the difficulty of the issue does not mean complacency; rather, it requires intensified efforts and serious support to resolve it.

Third: We addressed the Lebanese economy and its rapid momentum over the past two months, reflecting Lebanon’s underlying vitality. Once certain decisions are taken and a minimum level of confidence is restored, economic activity resumes – an issue of paramount importance.

Fourth: We discussed the reform process, which has begun to move forward, albeit not at the required pace. We also addressed the financial gap law from a principled standpoint, without delving into technical details, underscoring the importance of adopting legislation in this regard.

Fifth: We discussed the Beirut port file, along with the importance of controlling maritime borders and activating scanner systems expected to become operational in the coming days. Hopefully, serious talks on resuming Lebanese exports to Saudi Arabia will start in the near future, especially since the Kingdom had been Lebanon’s top importing country before exports were halted. I hope exports will resume as soon as possible.

Sixth: We emphasized the importance of Saudi tourists and their return to Lebanon, including their visits next summer, or even in winter to enjoy Lebanon’s snow. I hope all necessary measures will be completed to welcome them, as this reflects the strength of bilateral relations and translates into significant support for the Lebanese economy.
